Eagle Pride Publisher Wins Top Fair Award

The Eagle Pride Publisher won the “Best in Show” award in the San Diego County Fair’s middle school newspaper division for the seventh year out of the last eight. The school newspaper also received the awards of “Best in Layout and Design,” “Best in Story Quality,” and “Best in Content/Coverage.” A group of the lead editors from the journalism team will accept these awards at a June 17 ceremony at the fair where the newspaper will be displayed at the Student Showcase in the lower grandstand area .

Asked if she was proud of the journalism team and whether she thinks next year’s team can live up to the same standard, journalism advisor Mrs. Teresa Roberts responded, “Yes, I am extremely proud of this year’s journalism team, and I am excited to see the product of next year’s team. I have high hopes that next year’s will be great, too.”

When Olivia Hansen, one of next year’s lead editors, was asked the same question, she said, “I think the incoming seventh graders will do a good job in journalism. If we do win awards, I would love to go to the fair to see them.”
