Principal’s Message for June 9th

Dear Parents,

We started the school year by welcoming the new pastor, Father Jim, and saying goodbye to our retiring pastor, Father Brian. From there, the first trimester was a whirlwind of activity including STAR assessments, Fall Festival, and preparation for the WCEA/WASC Accreditation.

For our accreditation visit in February, the staff, students, and parents came together to give the Visiting Committee a thorough understanding of our Saint John community of faith, knowledge, and service to others. In turn, the school received an outstanding accreditation report rating the school as effective and highly effective in every category.

The Auction was a wonderful event held in a “transformed” Parish Hall that was both fun and raised a considerable amount of money, including the Fund-a-Need for science. The Jog-a-Thon also proved to be terrific fundraiser as well as a good time for all the students and volunteer parents. The great year we had would not have been possible without the excellent work provided by the Eagle Group and School Board. Thanks to all of them for leading our volunteers throughout the year.

We’ve concluded our year by reviewing the academic progress of our students from last September. They have continued to show substantial growth throughout the year as evidenced by students in 2nd – 8th grade scoring in the top 15% and 20% nationwide in reading and math.

As the 2016-2017 school year comes to a close, I wish to thank each of you for your time and effort working together with the staff to make our school the wonderful Catholic community it has become. We look forward to continuing this good work to benefit all the students who come through our doors.
Have a relaxing summer and we look forward to seeing you in the fall.
Peace and blessings,

Dan Schuh
